The colour of magic
The ASUS e-reader that is really capturing the public imagination, however, is the DR-570 and the simple reason is colour.
The 5.7 inch screen does indeed claim to be full colour, although the only images we've seen seem to be a DR-950 with a colour image superimposed, so we'll keep chasing ASUS for some better ones.
Some of the other claims are equally impressive. ASUS reckons the page transitions take 0.03 seconds, compared to almost a second for the Kindle. It's also claiming a whopping 122 hours of battery life based on typical usage patterns.
The DR-570 will support both Flash 10 and video playback and will have a 3D user interface. We don't have confirmation of the processor yet, but it must be something like a Snapdragon or Tegra if it's going to support decent graphics.
This model will also have both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, but don't expect to be able to get your hands on one until late in the year.
