Taking the fight online

Once you've had time to catch your breath, after exhausting the exquisitely-polished campaign, a feature-extensive multiplayer mode awaits. Four-player co-op works seamlessly - and is by far the best way to play the campaign on hardcore mode - as you flank and combine tactics to get through some incredibly tough and brutal encounters.

The return of Survival and Horde modes from previous games are back, but it also expands on multiplayer content with the superb Beast Mode, where you fight waves of locusts, earning points and spending them on units to down the increasingly aggressive enemy waves. Beast Mode gives you a chance to step into the furry feet of some of the game's enemies, and it's a fresh and engaging battle that never fails to entertain with the variety you get from switching roles. The usual deathmatch and objective modes also make a welcome appearance, too. Unsurprisingly, the selection of maps on offer, all inspired by the campaign, also look fantastic.

One-eyed Willy's bite is worse than his bark

Indeed, Gears of War 3 is one of the best-looking games on Xbox 360 with stunning vistas, iconic structures and highly detailed environments. When you combine these high-quality visuals with the mega soundtrack, there are some genuinely memorable moments, and times where you'll be in awe of what you just saw or encountered. Having rated the PlayStation 3-exclusive shooter Resistance 3 very highly in our review recently, there's only one score we can give Gears of War 3 - which ends up making Sony's shooter look positively shoddy. No doubt about it: Gears of War 3 is a polished, cinematic piece of work that is sure to go down in Xbox 360 history as one of the best shooters of this console generation.

Bring it out on PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know microsoft want a war with Sony on consoles, but for the love of god their biggest gaming system is Windows, so why no GOW2 and GOW3 for PC???? Even if it is 6 months later, thats fine, we'll wait, its worth it!.

And whilst their at it, Halo3 as well!!!
Does Gears 1 actually work on the PC now? I've been tempeted to get it for awhile (if only for the Brumak fight which got cut from the 360 version).

If it does, I'd be tempted to track down a copy (they should be fairly cheap by now) and I'm sure there's an unlock in this game if you've got the an achievement from the PC version on your live profile.

Fair play, gears 3 is a great game I'm really enjoying it .
I recently played GoW1 on the PC from start to end twice.

Not a single glitch and it looked amazing with ansio and AA maxed :)
Yes, it has always been fine on the PC, and has always been better on the PC than on the xbox - there are some other extra bits in the PC version as well as the Brumack, tho I can't remember what they are

Yes, it has always been fine on the PC…

There was a problem with an out of date certificate which stopped the game from running, but since it's been fixed :clapping: it looks like I need to track down a copy
