Same old, but it's still good.

The major new feature for the Animal Crossing series is Wii Speak, a microphone which can pick up the voices of everyone in the room, but frankly it's a bit of a letdown. You can invite up to three people to join you for a natter, providing you have their friend code. It works well enough, but the fact that you can’t do anything meaningful in the game together, aside from trading items, means that its implementation is fairly pointless.

Nevertheless, the box has been ticked by Nintendo as Let’s Go To The City becomes the first game to include voice chat. As far as innovation goes though, that’s about as far as the Japanese publisher was ever going to push it. Nintendo knew damn well that a whole new audience of people would get addicted to Animal Crossing all over again and therefore decided to take its foot off the gas and essentially port Wild World to Wii. A wise move some would say, but personally I feel a bit conned that as a fan of past games I picked it up thinking that it would in some way be an evolution of the series. If you’ve never experience the time-consuming and utterly addictive Animal Crossing experience then now is as good a time as ever, but if you have, you’ll find nothing here to tempt you to hang around.

Pros
Addictive
Rewarding
Loads to do
Great value for money – in fact it never ends.

Cons
Same old
Wii Speak is a waste of time
Repetitive tasks

A great chance for first-timers to enjoy the brilliant Animal Crossing experience (8/10)
