Banditry on your own or in a group
The game is split into 24 single-player missions and nine deathmatch maps. The missions vary in size but tend to err on the side of “long and really bloody hard”. It’s really quite a difficult game and the single-player will last you a good while. Most notably, a level requiring you to defend a moving train against a legion of enemies will stump you for a considerable while. When you DO get to the end of the game, there are two different endings available, depending upon ownership of large quantities of gold bullion.
The multiplayer component of the game is an unexpected success for Grin. Whilst
they had to curb a lot of features for the Swedish release of the game, it was
the most popular aspect when showed at the ECTS event earlier this year. The
multiplayer is great fun, if somewhat buggy – whenever a player disconnects
from you, the server will be messed up for a good half minute. There is no dedicated
server software in the Swedish version either, but both these details should
be fixed for the US/UK release of the game. The game is also designed to support
extra maps and mods – work has already begun on a map before Grin have
even revealed how to do it, and the promise of Bandits CTF is pretty exciting...
