Introducing multiplayer...
Multiplayer mode will also be story-driven. Set during the fall of Rapture, we'll assume the role of a Plasmid test subject in the underwater city that was first explored in the original BioShock. We'll earn experience points along the way to earn access to new Weapons, Plasmids and Tonics that can be used to create hundreds of different combinations, allowing us to develop a unique character that caters to their playing style. They'll also be the option to experience Rapture’s Civil War as we step into the shoes of Rapture citizens and take direct part in the civil war that tore Rapture apart.
The multiplayer component will consist of five game modes:
Survival of the Fittest: A 'free-for-all' deathmatch mode
Civil War: Team deathmatch
Last Splicer Standing: A variation of 'Survival of the Fittest' where the player does not respawn after being killed. The last player alive at the end of the match is the winner.
Capture the Sister: Capture the flag
ADAM Grab: There is one Little Sister in the level, and each player is tasked with capturing and keeping her for as long as possible.
Team ADAM Grab: SAme as above but players are divided into two teams.
Turf War: Is like 'King of the Hill.' Players are split into two teams and each team must reach pre-determined points on the map to capture that point. The team with the most control points over the longest time wins.
The original Bioshock won more than 50 game of the year awards, with the addition of a multiplayer as well this time, we've got high hopes that it will repeat its success.
Bioshock 2 is available for preorder now and is due for release on February 9, 2010.
