Major grilling
Following the outbursts from fans and websites alike, including ourselves, about the pricing of the Guitar Hero II marketplace content, Major Nelson has been speaking to Joystiq to offer some sort of explanation.
Red Octane split the downloadable content into three bundles containing three songs in each, with each bundle costing 500 Microsoft points (approximately Ā£4.25). Major Nelson blames the high pricing on licencing fees saying that, "the contracts have to be renegotiated on a new platform, and it's also involving digital distribution, so there's a lot of things involved."
However, Major Nelson distanced himself and Microsoft from Red Octane's decision on the pricing and revealed that the developer has 'aggressive plans' to release more content onto the marketplace.
"I do know that they have some really aggressive plans to release more content. I don't know what their pricing schedule's going to be. I just don't know. I do know that they've made comments in the past, saying they want to release more content," he commented.
Gamers are currently taking the matter into their own hands through an online petition that states they will not purchase the content at the current price.
