According to The Age,via Nextgen.biz, Sony has announced the first set of PS3 sales figures in Australia and it looks as if they'll fall short of beating the countries current record for the fastest selling console of all time. That accolade currently belongs to Nintendo, who sold 32,901 units in the first four days of launch. Microsoft also had a successful Australian launch with the Xbox 360, which sold 30,000 units over the same period of time.
Sony has today confirmed that they have sold 20,000 PS3s in the first three days of the Australian launch, which means that they still have one days worth of figures to play with before we can draw up a decent comparison.
We're expecting the initial European figures to be launched later this week
