Joystiq are reporting that the three-time Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA winning New Zealand filmmaker (and well known beard wearer) Peter Jackson has signed a deal with Microsoft to create two interactive videogames for Xbox 360. The news comes from the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco where the gaming blog, Joystiq has reported that 'one of the series will be based on the Halo franchise while the other will be a brand new IP.'
Shane Kim, Head of Microsoft Studios confirmed that the company are fully behind the idea of episodic content on the Xbox 360, but have said that both of Peter Jacksons' projects are still in an early stage of development.
There are very few details on the project and all we know thus far is that Wignut Interactive studio, which was formed in 2006 from a partnership with Microsoft and Jackson in order to create what they call 'filmic' games will be developing the games.
