A number of US online retailers are now accepting pre-orders for Halo 3.

The epic saga continues with Halo 3, in this third chapter of the Halo trilogy, Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax. GameStop allows you to pre-order Halo 3, which comes in 3 versions : Standard ($59.99), Collector's ($69.99), and Legendary Edition ($99.99).

If you buy the legendary edition you'll receive a Halo Spartan Mjolnir Mark VI Helmet Replica and three bonus discs.

There is plenty of speculation regarding changes to the multiplayer mode, but Bungie still haven't revealed full information on the game as yet. We know that online will cater for 16 players and Bungie have no plans to expand that, we also know that there will be a new melee weapon called the spiker and a spike grenade. We're going to stay away from the other rumours for now, but we'll bring you all the information as soon as it's offical.

Meanwhile, feast your eyes over these rather small scans from Japanese magazine, Famitsu.

They probably need a date to list the game on their system in order to take preorders, so an arbitrary date is assigned (which in turn generates the 148 days til release countdown)
