Bioware has confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of its RPG, Mass Effect 2, will feature two discs, but gamers will need to swap them not once, but twice.

Aaccording to IGN, Bioware community manager Chris Priestly explains that we'll need to use disc one to a certain point, then swap to disc 2 and then swap back to disc 1 at a later point to conclude the game. Very strange.

However, there is some method to the madness.

"Players will start with Disc 1 for the introduction and early level choices, then go through a funnel level of sorts, where they will need to switch to Disc 2," Houston explains.

"From there they will play the middle portion of the game, which is mostly on Disc 2. Then after another funnel point in the story they'll go back to Disc 1."

"The decision was made due to the nature of having to go to two discs for what is a non-linear game and fitting the right amount of content onto each of the discs," he added. "This way players won't have to swap their discs multiple times during the middle of the game."

It's a slight inconvenience we suppose, but it shouldn't distract from the enjoyment of the game.

In other Mass Effect 2 news we hear that EA will charging those gamers who don't buy a new copy of the game a premium price for upcoming DLC. It will cost those gamers 1200 Microsoft Points to access the Cerberus Network where bonus content will be made available.

How is this strange? the first third will take place in certain locations, middle in different locations and then back to the earlier locations. No brainer at all. What is confusing is; that some people find two disc games for consoles require disc swaps confusing.
can you not just install it to the hard drive anyway?
Preordered it on the PC so no problem for me! (Ā£10 cheaper at the time of ordering as well).
Oh no, the world is ending. God forbid should you get up from your sofa and change discs - TWICE! How dare they!
And this is why PS3 rocks!!! Take your 360-suXx0r elsewhere lolololololololol, it cant even do HD because it doesn't have the power of a blu-ray.

Even when installed to the hard drive you need to swap the required discs in.
