With Christmas fast approaching some retailers have cut the price of the Xbox 360 arcade console by £50.

Both HMV and GAME have dropped the price of the Xbox 360 arcade model, which comes without a hard drive, from £159.99 to just £109.99.

The price drop indicates that arcade models aren't selling well, which is probably something to do with Microsoft's strange decision to increase its price from £129.99 to £159.99 back in August after revealing that the Xbox 360 Pro console was to be discontinued.

Nevertheless, the £50 price reduction is good news for gamers this Christmas. When you buy the arcade model you also get a wireless controller and an Xbox live subscription - that's over £60 worth of goodies alone. Sounds like a pretty good deal to us. If you do already have an Xbox 360 - and especially if you're Xbox live subscription is due for renewal - you could even grab yourself a spare one at this price.

The arcade isn't worth it IMO, you really need a hard drive. If you look around you can get a 60GB model with Quantum of Solace for £130. Picked one up in Curries Digital Megastore in Lakeside.
Does the 360 arcade machine come with the jaspar chip inside? i already have a 20gb hdd.
They were supposed to be the first lot with the Jasper chipset, so if its a newish production model then probably yes.

Just ask the CSR to look into the hole on the box for a 12.1a rating then you will know its a Jasper.
