Ubisoft has confirmed that the next installment in the Prince of Persia series will be released later this year on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Nintendo DS.

This will be the first time that the series has appeared on next-generation consoles and Ubisoft plan to use the technology to create an illustrative art style and a new breed of gameplay that it hopes will rejuvenate the franchise.

There will also be a game designed for the Nintendo DS which will feature different storyline to the other versions and brand new characters.

The Prince of Persia series first launched in 2003 and was popular amongst gamers selling approximately 10 million units world-wide.

The title of the new game remains a close-guarded secret and there are few details as we speak, but the next issue of Edge Magazine, on sale 8th May, will have the first details, or you can simply keep an eye on the official website where you’ll find regular updates.
