Pre-orders filled
This is the message from MCV this morning, who suggest that UK retailers won't be able to cope with demand even before Grand Theft Auto IV is released on April 29th. What better way can there be to make gamers pre-order one of the biggest titles of the year, then to tell them that they may not get a copy of the game?Nevertheless, we're not sure if this is a ruse to boost sales or not, because the site does claim that GAME and Gamestation are running low on stock already with the latter claiming that they have ceased taking pre-orders.
Play.com has gone totally over the top by saying that it was “already proving a real hardware driver” for sales of the PS3. We want figures! Play.com’s Gian Luzio told MCV that the title was “far and away the biggest selling title” on PS3.
Surely, these companies will just order more stock if their pre-order limit has been reached. We'd suggest not to panic folks, this is only online stores, there's bound to be dozens of copies in the shops on release date.
