The most ignorant news channel on the planet?
I’m sure every gamer will cringe when they watch this ridiculously sensationalised debate about the much publicised nudity scenes in Bioware’s role playing game , Mass Effect.Far from being offended at the (lack of) explicit nudity in Mass Effect, I’m more irritated at the interviewer’s sheer level of ignorance and the way in which Fox News have made such a big issue out of nothing by referring to the Xbox as “Sexbox”; very childish indeed.
According to Fox News the nudity scenes in Mass Effect “leave nothing to the imagination” as the characters engage in graphic sex. Anyone who’s played the game will know that that is total bull. These guys and their dippy panel of pests are an insult to gamers.
The psychology ignoramus who has been hired by the news channel to argue the point has obviously never played the game in her life, let alone even watched the scene in question, yet she believes it degrades women - as the man uses the woman as a object of lust. If she had done her research properly she’d know that you can play as a woman in Mass Effect as well as a man and you can even indulge in some lesbian activities (see, no discrimination there).
Why do these high profile media outlets jump on board the video game debate and sensationalise the amount of violence and sexuality in them anyway? Don’t they have anything more important to report on?
When companies as big as Fox jump on stories like this I can only feel that they’re just fuelling the haters and encouraging even more censorship in the industry.
Cringe away:
EA are having none of it and have responded to Fox’s claims: “Sex scenes in Mass Effect are not graphic. These scenes are very similar to sex sequences frequently seen on network television in prime time, " reads an extract from a letter sent to the news station.
