Far Cry 2 confirmed for Xbox 360 and PS3

We already knew that Ubisoft's first person shooter Far Cry 2 was coming to PC in 2008, but now the publisher has confirmed that the sequel to the popular franchise will also appear on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in 2009.

We can expect a lush African environment, featuring plenty of native animals and an open-ended environment that will measure approximately 50 square km.

Ubisoft says that Far Cry 2 will be more than just a visual and technological achievement and will immerse players in an entirely new kind of gaming experience. It will feature a custom-made video game engine built from the ground up, called 'Dunia', which replaces the Far Cry 2 engine. The engine will take advantage of multi-core processors and support DirectX 9 as well as DirectX 10. According to Michiel Verheijdt, Senior Product Manager for Ubisoft Netherlands, only 2 or 3 percent of the original CryENGINE code is being re-used,
