Impossible Mission – Wii, DS, PSP

Right, now I feel old... really old. The reason? I can remember playing Impossible Mission the first time around... bugger. Just like explaining to my kids that the reason I know all the words to most of the ‘latest’ songs is because they’re covers of, what my kids believe are ancient versions, I’m looking at Impossible Mission with a sense of nostalgia and cringe worthyness at the same time.

I remember back in the day that Impossible Mission was the game to have purely for the fact it used digitized speech... which, given the fact we were playing on 8 bit systems with an average of around 32K, was bloody remarkable...

So, for all you youngsters, and I do mean anyone under 30, here’s a quick re-cap of what it was all about...

You take the role of a secret agent attempting to stop evil genius Professor Elvin Atombender who has been tampering with National Security Computers. You have to penetrate Atombender's base, attempting to recover parts of the system password whilst avoiding deadly robots in a race against time. Simple, eh?

Of course, Impossible Mission has been re-written from the ground up and features new graphics, 3D objects, new sound effects and music. However, developers System 3 say the gameplay remains loya to the original with the game layout changing for every new game. There are now three main characters to choose from plus a brand new tutorial mode. The player can now chose from three game modes, new, original and for the purist; a hybrid mode with the original gameplay using the updated graphics.

And as a bonus for PSP owners, the PSP versions offer an unusual feature which allows players to send a full copy of their game to a friend by wifi so they can try it for themselves, neat huh?

Anyway, here’s a bunch of DS screenies so you can see what I’m waffling about...
