Price drop should encourage consumers

Aren't Sony the nice guys. They're dropping the price of the PSP by £20 in May to an affordable £129.99. To coincide with the price drop Sony will also be moving 5 PSP titles to the platinum range, meaning that you'll be able to pick up Loco Roco, Killzone Liberation and Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Ridge Racer 2 and Moto GP for a bargain price. Not only that, but the range of platinum titles are also being reduced in price to just £14.99!

But why now you may ask? Well, the PS3 has recently undergone a firmware update allowing users to remotely connect with the PSP, which amongst other things will allow the playing of PSOne games on the hand-held. The reduced price should encourage those PS3 owners who don't already have a PSP to fork out just a little bit more.

Last week Sony also confirmed that they are reviewing both the pricing and production volume for the PS3, although they were keen to stress that it will not mean an immediate price cut.
