New software set to bring more realism to Sony console
Geometrics are hoping that their new software for PS3 will dramatically enhance the quality of lighting in videogames on the PS3, providing physically-based realistic lighting with dynamic lights in real-time.
The company has confirmed that their 'enlighten software' is now finished and ready to use. "We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to develop on the PS3. We believe that by harnessing the power of both the Cell processor and the GPU our lighting technology will help to realise the full graphics capability of Sony's console", said Geomerics' CTO Julian Davis.
Geomerics CEO Gary Lewis added "There is no doubt that the PS3 provides a massive opportunity for companies such as Geomerics. We will be creating cutting edge technologies across a range of complex and challenging areas, each optimised to take full advantage of the PS3 architecture. This will offer developers massive savings in time and cost, while simultaneously improving the quality of the games they can deliver".
