I like to think us Brits are a bit less aggressive in comparison to our friends in the US and won't resort to stealing PS3's by gunpoint or kicking the living daylights out of some poor kid who's catching the tube home clutching his new console, but the Metropolitan police don't seem to think so. GAME'S PS3 launch event was due to take place at midnight, but has been moved forward in fear that some people might take advantage of the fact that the night-time is an ideal opportunity to bag themselves a free console.
Following consultation with the Metropolitan Police and given the high value of the PS3 consoles, GAME,has put its customer’s safety first and made the decision to open the store at 7am. This will guarantee gamers have access to public transport so they can easily and safely transport their consoles home in daylight.
GAME will be inviting the first 150 gamers who have pre-ordered the PlayStation 3 to the store at 7am on Friday 23rd March. Customers will be greeted with bacon butties, pastries and coffee and will have the chance to claim Sony goodie bags whilst awaiting their turn to collect their PS3. After 9am the store will be open for all GAME customers.
Blimey! I'm going for the butties! You'll have every tramp in London in the queue if they get wind of that.(Spread the word to the tramps and someone pop along with a camera).
Anna Macario, GAME’s Marketing Director, states< i>“The launch of the PS3 is a big deal to our customers. We are managing the launch so it is safe for them, and the only thing they have to concentrate on is securing their new console.”
