PS3 launch titles delayed

Last week we reported that the lack of developments kits available to developers of the PS3 could possibly cause a huge headache for Sony. It's now been confirmed that three launch titles will be delayed until 2007. Formula One, Motorstorm and Heavenly Sword are the three titles.

SCEE CEO David Reeves also suggested that Singstar may also be delayed, he said it will be released "certainly before Christmas."

Sony have confirmed that there will be approximately 15 launch titles for the PS3. We'd expect more delays to be announced as the November launch date draws near.

It looks as though things are going to get worse for PS3 before they start to get better. Being a monumentous console launch as it is, it's bound to be plagued with problems at launch. Be it levels of stock, launch titles, or even hardware and software faults.

With all that and the price in mind, it's looking all the more tempting to wait until the first price drop to pick one up.
/Me grins smugly. Cuddles 360.
it's the developers who have been taking a beating from sony on the ps3 - given the obscene (7-8 figure) costs of the development hardware - which is in extremely short supply - there are a lot of developers who simply aren't bothering (http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=12699)

not only that, but sony's treatment of developers is poor - major studios are hearing from the press about major changes to the ps3 design (such as the loss of rumble), because sony don't have enough respect for their licensors to keep them updated. ten days, the warhawk developers were given, to add tilt control before e3. ten days - and no other bugger knew about it.

by comparison, nintendo's “cheap & cheerful” (4-5 figure) development strategy, and microsoft's easy & documented deveopment kit, both of which are in good supply…

well, nintendo used to mistreat their third party developers, and it landed them at the bottom of the home console market
I'd rather see games delayed than rushed to market. Both DOA4 and Oblivion were meant to be release titles for 360 but were delayed to finish the games.
indeed, better later and good than now and crappy…… im sure some old chineese guy could put that better :D

this could be really bad for sony… anyone remember what the nintendo vs atari legal thing did to nintendo?
