The latest PS3 rumour is currently spreading like wildfire. A number of sites are reporting that the 20Gb Playstation 3 may not be released in the U.K.
We decided to have a ring around the main game stores to find out if we could pre-order one and discovered the following:
GAME : Can only pre-order the 60Gb version, Sony have not confirmed that the 20Gb will be released in the U.K.
GAMESTATION : Can only pre-oder 60Gb version, Sony have suggested that the 20Gb version may not be coming to the U.K
ACTION REPLAY : Can pre-order both 20Gb and 60Gb version, they have heard nothing about the 20Gb not being available, but said they would phone customers if the 20Gb PS3 is pulled.
HMV : Waiting to hear from Sony, no pre-orders currently being taken
E-Play : Can preorder but not 20Gb, they've been told that the 60Gb unit may not be making an appearance.
PLAY.com : Will be available for pre-order within the next two weeks online, although they are not sure whether both versions will be available.
VIRGIN :Pre-orders not being taken till around August time, no idea which versions are available.
So, some conflicting evidence which doesn't really make the situation any clearer, with only Action Replay allowing us to place a pre-order on the 20Gb unit.
It appears that Sony have not yet made their minds up, will they release the cheaper version in the U.K, or will the British public be stung for every last penny?
