How much?
Yesterday saw Sony's chief of game studios, Phil Harrisson, deliver his keynote speech at the Game Developer's Conference in San Jose.
Sony fanboys will be dissapointed to hear that Harrisson didn't reveal any news on the pricing of the Playstation 3, nor which games will be available on launch day. He did reveal that the PS3 will hit stores early November, which is more accurate than the originally announced November release date.
He also told the packed crowd that the free online service. which pits players in head-to-head battles. will be available from the outset, and told us that the PS3 will feature voice and video conferencing capabilities. Not only this but, all PS3 games will be region free, although DVD's will still be region locked.
One of the PS3 accessories that has created plenty of interest (for the wrong reasons) is the boomerang style controller. You'll be glad to hear that it hasn't made the final cut, the new PS3 controller will be totally different.
More details on the PS3 will be revealed at E3 in May.
Harrison also talked about the Sony PSP, and enthused about the Playstation One downloadable games that consumers will be able to play. Nothing new was revealed but Harrisson encouraged game developers to think up ways to include the new add-ons, the GPS unit and camera, into PSP games.
Today sees Nintendo's chance to make an impact in their keynote speech - let's hope we get more details from them.
