The PlayStation 3 has been doing well to hold back the pirates, but that could be about to change after hackers claim that a complicated workaround has now enabled them to play pirated copies of some titles.

The hack apparently works on some of the older models and has allowed a few users to play Killzone 2, PES 2008 and Burnout Paradise. At this point in time, it's hard to ascertain how widespread the piracy is, but some forums suggest that the hack, which involves installing Windows XP over a Linux partition, is complicated and expensive so probably won't appeal to many gamers.

Whatever the case, if true, it could be the start of something bigger. For now, it's just a small victory for the pirates.
