More specifically, it will be the upcoming shooter Far Cry 2 that will have its own area in the world, allowing users to launch the game directly from Home, watch videos, as well as access an interactive area where they'll be information regarding missions and the chance to explore locations from the game, including "a bombed-out train station that has been turned into an ad hoc café."
They'll also be a multiplayer game of "Mancala that will use bullets as game pieces". We assume the content will all be free of charge.
Tony Key, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Ubisoft's US arm, is positively thrilled at the move: "We’re absolutely thrilled to collaborate with PlayStation on this ground-breaking endeavour and have Far Cry 2 be the first third-party video game to have an official space in PlayStation Home".
The Far Cry 2 space will continue to grow and evolve alongside PlayStation Home, with future additions of new interactive features and functions to create a living, growing platform for both the Far Cry and PlayStation communities.
PlayStation Home is the 3D social gaming community that allows PS3 users to meet, chat, plan and launch into games together. Gamers can create their own custom avatar, decorate their personal apartment, play mini-games, shop, watch videos, attend special events and much more.
Playstation Home is currently in closed beta phase. A launch date has yet to be announced, but with Far Cry due to be released a the end of October, we may get access to it earlier than expected.
