The Japanese gaming accessory manufacturer, Nyko has confirmed that a media hub for the Playstation 3 will be released in August.

The hub adds three additional USB ports and a media card reader slot to the console, which may come in handy if you don't own the 60Gb SKU which already has 6 USB slots and an expansion slot.

The hub is compatible with all three PS3 models and supports SD cards and memory sticks. It's also designed to match the colour and contours of the system.

“We found that many of our customers who had purchased the popular 40 GB version of the PS3, which has less USB ports and no media card reader, were looking for an affordable solution to expand with these features,” said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing at Nyko Technologies.

“With the Media Hub, an additional three USB ports and a media card reader are now possible for all PS3 models, allowing consumers to enjoy the full capabilities of their multimedia system no matter which model they choose.”

Best… quote… ever! :rockon2:
An interesting product, I wonder if perhaps knowledgable ps3 owners won't have already thought to hook up 12 to 1 media hubs and a usb hub or two??
Oh no! You changed the quote! :( I genuinely liked it, it was like an SD card reference :D the SD equivalent of ‘Om nom nom’. But maybe I'm just strange.

At the risk of stepping into nitpicking territory, how does it connect? If it goes into a USB port, then it only adds two additional USB ports, because you lose one in hooking it up. :P
