Sony has confirmed that PS3 firmware update version 2.4 will be available to download on Wednesday 2nd July.

Amongst the features on offer will be in-game XMB access, allowing PS3 users for the first time to access the Cross-media bar where they can check friend lists and send messages. Users will also have the ability to change some game setting without having to quit out to the menu.

One of the most exciting features, however, will be the new trophy system, which will represent each gamers success across different games and then can be displayed online for all to gloat over.

The first title to implement trophies will be Super Stardust HD, which will followed by the Sony titles, Buzz, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Resistance 2.

Finally, you'll be able to cram more friends onto your list thanks to an increase in capacity to 100 people.More people to show off your trophies to! Like it.
