Despite an official announcement yesterday, confirming that Sony will be offering its own movie download service for PS3 , no studios have signed up.

Sony must be confident. You would have thought that it would have signed up studio sbefore announcing the service.

One movie company that it is guaranteed to have on board when it launches this summer is Sony Pictures.

Variety writes:

"Sources at numerous major studios confirmed to me that while they have all talked to Sony, none have yet made a deal. The only one that's definitely on board so far is, for obvious reasons, Sony Pictures."

Rival Microsoft currently has a movie download service on its Xbox 360, which is backed by the likes of Warner Bros, Paramount and Disney.

Sony is said to be in talks with a number of studios, but it will need to get pen to paper quickly if it hopes to launch the service as planned this summer! No doubt we'll hear more at E3 in July, where Sony plan to reveal full details of its movie service.
