Playboy pink coming soon?

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced a new PS3 model for the Japanese market. The satin silver 40GB Playstation 3 will retail at 39,980 yen (£188) and, if Japanese gamers fancy the matching collars and cuffs, they’ll also be able to pick up the satin silver DualShock wireless controller.

The new unit is the latest addition to the Japanese range of PS3 coloured units, which currently include the ceramic white and clear black version. The latest SKU will be released on March 6, the same day that Microsoft unleashes the new Xbox 360 arcade edition.

Choosing from a broader selection of colors to match their lifestyle and preferences, users will be able to enjoy next generation interactive entertainment contents on Blu-ray Disc as well as via the broadband network at home, reads the official press release.

How many different PS3s are there out there now? Anyone else losing track?

Sony has yet to confirm whether the satin silver PS3 will be released in Europe.

“The latest SKU will be released on March 6, the same day that Microsoft unleashes the new Xbox 360 arcade edition.”

That's the most telling part, they're just keeping up with the Jone's.
I think I still prefer the black console, I think a nice dark blue colour might look nice on a PS3 though.
I like the cream color of the Xbox 360, it fits in with the decor. If I had a PS3 I'd go for the white one.

Does it have a hard drive?
Despite the new Dualshock 3 pad coming out on the same day, the console comes with a non-vibratey Sixaxis, now in silver. So add an extra ¥5,500 onto the price if you want that good ol' “last-gen” feature, rumble. :P

Also, the first post in this thread talks about Satin Sliver - possibly the upcoming DVD re-release? ;)
