A bloke down the pub told us

Rumours from an anonymous source, said to be a Sony insider, suggest that the electronics giant is planning to introduce a new Playstation 3 SKU in the Autumn.

The source of the rumour is the gadget website, T3 who claim they were told at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (why wait nearly one month to bring us this breaking news?) that Sony are planning a slimmer PS3.

There has been no confirmation from Sony, but any fool and his dog could guess that they’d eventually look at a slimmer model, as they did with the Playstation 2.

It’s more a case of when it will arrive not if, but when it does it will be interesting to see whether Sony offer a larger HDD; 160GB would be nice.

T3 has created a nice mock-up of what the Playstation 3 slim may look like.

even though im still a PS3 boy through and through i have to say this:
80gig, 60gig, 40gig, 120gig, backwards compatibility, 2usb, 4usb . . . . . make a console thats going to have all the benefits before concentrating on no doubt another inferior version the the existing system!
I wonder what features they will be removing this time?
Probably blu-ray movie compatibility? :p
I keep thinking I'll get a PS3 but rumours such as these and announcements from Sony don't help matters. I'm always waiting for the next model.

Oh well, looks as though I may as well wait 'till Christmas now.
I'm tempted to ignore this as every month T3 seem to have an “exclusive” and mock up a new device (they did a PSPhone recently) and very rarely anything seems to come of them… but I could be proven wrong.
haha, i bet the big three make their next consoles really big to start with, just so they can then release a slimmed down version and then another one after that.
