Ken Graffeo, the co-chairman of the HD-DVD Promotion Group said, "The European PS3 price cut will have a minimal impact on the adoption of next generation HD formats. The real battleground is in sales of standalone players and HD DVD is out in front by a massive margin."
The company quoted the market research group, GSK whose figures show that 70% of consumers have chosen HD-DVD over Blu-Ray.
In other PS3 related news, the 60GB PS3 model, which only launched in the UK in March is set to be discontinued after current stocks run out. "The 60GB Starter pack will remain on sale until stocks run out (a number of months, depending on territory.) Thereafter, the 40GB model will be the only SKU in the SCEE region," Nick Sharples told Kotaku.
