A wonderfully geekilicious large format poster featuring an illustrated infographic which breaks down “The Evolution of Video Game Controllers” is now available for pre-order. You are bound to find some of your favourite games controllers on there from long ago up to the present day.
The Evolution of Video Game Controllers poster shows an infographic charting the history of the humble video game controller all way back from 1958’s “Tennis for Two” to the future/present OUYA and PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers. The infographic uses a vertical axis of time and a colour coding system to denote the controller type. Controller types include categories such as ‘Game Pad’, ‘Light Gun’ and ‘Track Ball’. The images show a treasure trove of video games controllers both familiar and obscure, from the common or garden ‘Xbox Controller’ to the ‘Para Para Paradise.’
"Including every console ever"
Pop Chart Lab describes the infographic poster as follows; “The complete family tree of video game control schemes--including handhelds, joysticks, paddles, gamepads, and one notable glove--this chart shows how gaming input has evolved from simple knobs to directional pads to touch screens. Including every console ever, this sprawling print features 179 species and 12 genera over seven decades of gaming.”
