Sennheiser PMX70 Sport neckband in-ear headset
The green-and-grey PMX70 Sport – a neckband headphone set – is priced around £18. It's aimed at people who like to listen to music while they play sports, so is designed to be resistant to sweat and water.
It's similar to the PX10 in-ear banded model, apart from the fact that, instead of going over the head, the band goes around the ears and behind the head.
The 1.2m cable exits only from one side of the headset, the left, and comes with a cable-clip to stop things flapping about.
So, how sporty is the PMX70? Well, I don't actually do sports. I don't run, jog or even go to the gym - although I have had several unused gym memberships.
Without the benefit of fitness training, my attempts to dislodge these headphones totally failed - and almost certainly would have done even with it.
I bounced around, shaking my head violently and couldn't even get the things to move, let alone fall off my head. All I got for my trouble was a vicious headache!
A big tick, then, on the sports-compatibility front.
Sound quality also merits a large tick.
The 64-ohm headphones are said to be driven by "powerful neodymium magnets" that offer "detailed sound reproduction" - and I've got no arguments about the sound quality anywhere in this model's frequency range, claimed to be 19Hz-20,000Hz. Bass performance, though, was especially fine.
Whatever was being played, the low frequencies sounded deep and distinct - extremely full-bodied you might say - yet never seemed overwhelming.
But, much to my surprise and disappointment, I didn't find the PMX70s very comfortable – initially, at least.
However, they seemed to get more comfortable the more times they were worn, so I'm optimistic that I could get used to them.
And now for the main event (for me, at least), the Sennheiser MX90VC…
