The loudspeakers. Literally.
Accompanying Teufel's amplifier are a pair of CB 200 F Satellite Speakers, each housed in a tall-but-slim frame measuring 100mm x 311mm x 220mm.
Touting a frequency response of 80Hz - 20kHz (+/-3dB), the speakers offer a generous range of soothing lows and a crisp, clear mid-range. Although the bass on offer isn't able to compete with a dedicated subwoofer, there's still a surprising amount, aided no doubt by the bass reflex opening in the trumpet foot of each speaker.
Those looking for ground-shaking lows may be disappointed, but the discerning listener hoping for smooth tones and clear, natural sound will thoroughly enjoy the warm bass on offer from Teufel's Concept B 200.
Standing at 311mm in height, each Concept B 200 speaker is notably larger than most of the competition, but the extra size is certainly put to good use. A pair of 80mm neodymium klippel-optimised long-stroke mid-woofers and a 25mm neodymium fabric dome tweeter resides within each speaker, providing a maximum power capability of 70W apiece.
There's plenty of power on offer, and Teufel's commitment to quality is evident - there's little sign of distortion at high volume, with output remaining clear and well defined.
Teufel ships the Concept B 200 with high-quality speaker cables, both of which slot into the independent 6.3mm jacks found at the rear of each speaker. Measuring 5ft in length, the cables ensure there's enough room to place the speakers and amplifier in the user's desired position.
Build quality, sound and implementation, then, is generally excellent. But there could be one potential downside; looks. Finished in basic-looking black plastic, Teufel's speakers simply don't look worthy of their near-£200 price tag. Similarly, the sturdy amplifier is ultimately a big black box, and by no means a desirable addition to a user's desk.
There's a clear sense of German efficiency, but an equally obvious lack of flair. When in use, the Concept B 200 USB can be stunning, unfortunately, at all other times they'll look... well, rather old fashioned and boring.
