More to love
Google announced it was getting into the movie rental business back at the start of the year, and eventually rolled it out in the US in May. Canada followed last month and now it's our turn.
If you go to youtube.com/movies you can now acces over a thousand movies, including blockbusters like The Dark Knight and new-ish releases such as Red Riding Hood. YouTube was also keen to point out in its announcement that there are plenty of British ones such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Prices seem to range between £2.49 and £3.49, and you pay through your Google account. The service will presumably be easy to access from Internet connected TVs and puts Google in direct competition with Amazon-owned Love Film.
"There's always more to explore on YouTube," said the announcement. "Many movie pages also feature YouTube Movie Extras with free behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, parodies, clips and remixes from YouTube's unique community of content creators. Over time we'll also be adding additional videos and features to YouTube Movie Extras so that you can get even more into movies on YouTube."
