HTC’s Touch Dual smartphone has finally landed in the UK, slightly later than anticipated. However, it has appeared though - as expected - on Orange.

The handset has cropped up on Orange’s UK website, with a lovely free price tag – provided you sign a £35-a-month contract with the network operator.

It was originally thought that the Touch Dual would go on sale across Europe at the end of October, initially through Orange.

The Dual doesn’t have Wi-Fi connectivity, but does provide HSDPA ‘super 3G’ high-speed download technology and Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). It’s a tri-band GSM/GPRS/Edge handset and has a front-facing camera suitable for video calls, displayed on its 2.6in display.

Hi

I've got the original touch, which has the nicest form factor of any phone I've owned

Having 3G on the Dual is great but loosing Wi-Fi that will be a deal breaker for many

its got 3.5G thou! You can stream YouTube, anywhere you've got the 3.5G signal kills the iPhone youtube app imo.

I'd go and buy one tommorow, but instead i'd rather have the Touch cruise with a keypad :P
I was almost tempted to hold out for this when I bought my original touch - but glad I didn't and I made the right choice.

It has half the battery life, its twice as thick, a fair bit heavier, a smaller screen, and no WiFi - the only benefits are the 3G and keypad..both of which I can live without.

The main reason to go for one would be the keypad - BUT since the improved HTC ‘phone pad’ was released for the touch theres no real reason to, since that works brilliantly for text input anywhere on the phone :)
