The press release

Sky launches online Remote Record service

28 February 2007 - Millions of TV viewers with Sky+ and Sky HD boxes can now set recordings of their favourite shows online, while at work, on holiday or while tapping away on their laptop in a wireless cafe. The Remote Record service means people can set their Sky+ or Sky HD boxes to record from Sky.com, wherever they are in the world.

The online service is free to use and accessed via http://www.sky.com/remoterecord. Visitors to the site can view Sky's seven-day TV guide and select programmes to record with a few simple clicks. The guide enables people to search and browse listings by time, day or programme name.

Remote Record online joins the mobile Remote Record service Sky launched last year. The mobile service, which has received tens of thousands of recording requests to date, works via mobile internet and SMS. Sky are the only company in the world to offer this service on three platforms.

Stephen Van Rooyen, Sky's Director of Product Management, said: "Remote Record is perfect for those situations when you hear about a TV show and want to record it there and then, if you're stuck late at work or if you've simply forgotten to record that programme you want to watch. It's about making TV fit around people's increasingly busy lives."

Millions of people in Sky+ and Sky HD homes will benefit from the new service.

Using Remote Record Online
An active Sky+ subscription is required to register and use Remote Record online. Registration is free and required to link the customer's details to their Sky+ or Sky HD box where they want recording requests sent. Once a request has been made it cannot be deleted via sky.com, only directly through the Sky+ or Sky HD box. Recording requests can be made from outside the UK and must be made 30 minutes before the start of the programme. Internet service provider charges apply.

Registering for Remote Record
Before you can set your Sky+ or Sky HD box to record using your mobile or via Sky.com you first need to register for Remote Record. Registration is a 2 step process.

1. Get a My Sky account (if you don't already have one)
First create a My Sky account on Sky.com.

To get to the Remote Record registration screens on Sky Active:

Best news I've heard all day. I sometimes use the tt message service to record programs but this will make everything so much easier :)
I'm sure I saw this running about 6 months ago
Seems like someone at BskyB knows their market - shame I cannot have Sky where I live (plus the cost outweighs the benefits for me - too much money).

Must tell my mate who has it, though I am sure the marketing team has already done that for me… ;-)
