Panasonic ceases analogue TV development

The end of analogue draws near.

Panasonic, a brand name of Matsushita, is a household name for televisions here in the UK and around the globe. It stands to reason then, that when they say they're stopping development of analogue televisions, that the age of analogue is nearing its end.

Analogue telly isn't going to disappear overnight, however - indeed analogue signals aren't switched off here for a while yet. Still, manufacturer's are going to see little point in working on developing technology based around analogue when digital is already here and in use. Panasonic's move is testament to this, their development efforts shifting completely on to digital telly.

So, while this isn't unexpected news, it seems that Panasonic is the first, in Japan at least, to make such a move, Digi Times citing Japanese sources. Other manufacturers, both in Japan and elsewhere, will no doubt follow in Panasonic's footsteps over the course of the next few months, and maybe years, for those still clinging on to analogue.

It appears the **** in Matsu****a doesn't work on the forums, which is a bit ****, but I don't give a ****.
I was wondering about that…
matsushita? I didn't know they where Panasonic made?
I remember having a CD ROM drive from them back in 1997.

Ah, a K200 and 32Mb RAM. Oh and a Diamond Voodoo card. *Memories….*
Significant news, me thinks.

Oh and Panasonic, Technics, JVC (sometimes known as Victor) and a bunch of other brands are owned by the company whose name we must not say but which the Japanese themselves pronounce, Maashuster.
JVC = Japanese Victor Company I think? I didn't realise matsushita was prononced that way :)
