Griffin Technology, manufacturer of iPod accessories, is set to release a dock for the iPod that will transform it into an entire Media Center.

TuneCenter hooks up to a television and stereo system. Sound can then be played back through a set the user's phat speakers, and video played back on the television. The system also allows browsing of the iPod's playlists through the television, with a Windows MCE style interface. A 14 button remote is provided so that the entire system can be controlled from the sofa.

Griffin are pushing this as the most advanced iPod dock to date, and indeed the prospect of taking your portable music player, slipping it into the dock and turning it into the heart of your entertainment center too, is appealing. iPods from the 3rd generation onwards are supported.

iPod related tasks aside, the system also has wireless and wired network interfaces, allowing it to access Internet radio stations, just in case you get bored of Podcasts and actually want to listen to something live for once.

What's perhaps most surprising about the dock is its size. It doesn't need much of a physical presence as the television and sound system do all the output work, thus it's only little.

TuneCenter

The TuneCenter costs a humble $99.99, with Griffin stating that it will ship in March.

this makes the ipod video more appealing, music on the go, come home slot into dock, tvshows and music on me tv. Soudns appealing. Just need an iPod Video first:embarrassed:
price is quite good when you look at its networking options, but sound quality of the iPod's DAC (which at that price i assume its using) is at best described as non-desirable.
Anyone know if this is still supposed to be available in March?
