If the clutter of another set-top-box has put you off Toshiba's HDR5010, the Japanese manufacturer has another means for you to get your fix of Freeview HD in the form of a new range of REGZA LCD TVs.
Available from April 2010, Toshiba will introduce three new series of REGZA LCD displays equipped with a Freeview HD-compatible DVB-T2 tuner.
Headlining the new range is the REGZA WL Series, pictured above. Toshiba's range-topping display is available in 40in, 46in or 55in form factors and features an 200Hz LED-backlit panel that offers a full-HD, 1080p resolution.
The slightly-lesser REGZA SL Series, meanwhile, will be more affordable in 32in, 40in and 46in models, and offers a slower refresh rate of 100Hz. At the bottom-end of the Freeview HD range, Toshiba's REGZA RV Series is available in 32in, 37in and 40in sizes, and forgoes an LED-backlit panel in favour of traditional fluorescent lighting.
All three ranges feature proprietary Toshiba image processing tools, including MetaBrain and an upscaling technology dubbed Resolution+, as well as four HDMI ports and Toshiba's REGZA-LINK technology. A single USB port allows for the playback of JPEG images and MP3 music, and the displays are all DLNA-certified, allowing users to stream content direct from their PCs.
Toshiba has yet to reveal pricing information, but adds that its 2010 REGZA LCD TVs will be available in time for the 2010 World Cup, stating that the event "offers an excellent opportunity for manufacturers".
