Today is Earth Day, folks, and it's designed to make us better appreciate the Earth's environment.

2009 marks the 39th iteration of Earth Day, and, we suppose, it takes on more relevance as we're constantly plied with statistics that intimate humans are changing nature's landscape forever, through irrevocable actions that alter the Earth's natural balance.

As a microcosm of society, the computing industry takes more than its fair share of power, but recent attempts by large companies in releasing greener products has been welcome.

On a personal note, do you care about Earth Day? What does it mean to you? And are you doing anything different today to mark the occasion?

Me? I'm going for a 10-mile walk through nearby woodlands.

I was thinking of booking some flights, i fancy going to Barcelona this next month.
It's nice and sunny here. I might go for adrive later, a nit of foot to the floor action :)
I'm starting a new hobby: burning tyres. It's pretty satisfying.
I'm going to hug a tree, and then have a bbq.

I like the poetry in reassuring a tree that it's alright, and then providing it with some more carbon to assimilate.
What a cynical bunch! ;)

I actually had no idea - although rather foruitously I decided not to leave my PC folding while I was at work today, which I have been doing quite a lot recently - maybe my subconscious knew it was Earth day!
