Demand for Smartphones ‘Pushed’ Skywards, says HTC
Barcelona, 13 February (CET 12:01), 2006: HTC, the global leader in Microsoft® Windows Mobile™-based devices, today predicted that the introduction of direct push email on Microsoft’s® Windows Mobile 5.0 software platform will have a far reaching effect. The company anticipates significant demand for wireless email, initially from the business community, and believes this will massively drive the demand for Smartphone and PDA devices.
With a strong heritage in the design and manufacture of Smartphone and PDA devices, HTC has built its business on a proven reputation for pioneering mobile technology. Now the market leader, HTC is experienced in partnering mobile phone networks to deliver feature-rich devices for them to sell under their own brand, as well as retailing under HTC’s Qtek brand. The current product portfolio perfectly combines aesthetic style and power, and can synch with Microsoft® Exchange 2003 servers, running Service Pack 2, to provide businesses with full direct push email capabilities.

End users will immediately benefit from this leap in mainstream technology, with push email previously only available on Blackberry, as for the first time, there will be no need to carry around two separate products to truly stay productive whilst away from the office. By connecting directly to Microsoft Exchange 2003 servers, IT administrators will not have to pay for and manage additional costly servers and middleware, which other mobile messaging solutions require.
Consummate professionals can now synch their PC to one device; accessing familiar Microsoft® Office applications (Outlook® Mobile contacts & tasks, PowerPoint® Mobile , Excel® Mobile and Word Mobile etc.), as well as sending and receiving real time data and making voice calls. “We’re so close to the idea of ‘carrying your world in your pocket’ that we can almost touch it”, says Peter Chou.
