Virgin Media, the UK’s broadband expert, today launched ‘up to 16Mb’ broadband for customers on its National broadband service. New and existing customers using Virgin Media’s ADSL broadband service, now known as Virgin Media National, will be able to double their existing broadband speed from 8Mb to up to 16Mb.
To launch the service and to ensure customers are able to get higher speeds, both new and existing customers will be able to try the broadband boost for up to three months at no extra cost. Following the initial three month trial, the service will cost just £5 a month on top of their normal package should they want to keep the ‘up to 16Mb’ service. In addition, it can be added or removed at any time without the need for a contract.
The new Virgin Media National ‘up to 16Mb’ service is perfect for anyone wanting to give their broadband an instant pick-me-up, even if only for a month or two. Customers could benefit from a broadband boost during school holidays or in the run up to Christmas, when more members of the family might want to get online at the same time. Faster speeds enable speedier access to online TV and music, as well as improving gaming performance, and can also make sharing photos, online shopping and general web surfing a lot nippier.
Virgin Media, the UK’s broadband expert, is able to provide broadband in three different ways: the Mother of all Broadband based on superfast fibre optic technology, National broadband delivered over telephone lines, and Mobile broadband through a USB dongle. Virgin Media National is available across the UK, including areas which are unable to receive Virgin Media's fibre optic broadband. Customers taking Virgin Media National broadband also get a free wireless router and PC Guard with anti-virus protection.
