Press Release

Audio-Technica's impressive noise canceling headphones allow you to take control of your environment

Leeds, UK, 30-08-2007: Finding peace in the noisy environments that surround us today can prove to be impossible.  Not any more.  Audio-Technica, the leading Japanese manufacturer of high-performance microphones, headphones, wireless systems, mixers and electronic products for the home and professionals, will be demonstrating the impressive performance of its ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint™ headphones  at IFA, the world's largest Consumer Electronics Show.

Whether it's listening to your iPod™ on the train, or watching movies on a long haul flight, these lightweight, compact headphones from Audio-Technica make use of some very smart technology to reduce the levels of background noise by up to 85%, allowing you to listen to music or movie soundtracks with exceptional clarity, and at comfortable volume levels. In addition, the ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint™ headphones introduce this sophisticated noise cancelling technology at almost half the price of any comparable headphones.

These super headphones employ a miniature microphone in each earpiece to actively monitor what you are hearing, including the unwanted environmental noise; such as street sounds, the noise in an airplane cabin or train carriage, or noise associated with a busy IT workplace. The onboard electronics identify the difference between this and the 'undisturbed' signal from your listening source. This is used to create an anti-noise signal. By mixing this with the intended signal source the unwanted noise is cancelled out, allowing you to listen to audio in conditions of near silence.

Ideal for use with portable MP3, CD, and DVD players, PCs and in-flight entertainment systems, the ANC7 headphones feature a closed-back, streamlined design that is extremely comfortable to wear over extended periods of use.

Engineering is highly advanced with large-aperture drivers, and neodymium magnet systems, to provide high resolution signal reproduction, and a wide extended frequency response; from 10-25,000 Hz. The sound of the ANC7 is characterised by exceptional clarity, and deep bass frequencies, providing for an extremely 'musical' headphone.

The noise cancelling electronics for the headphones are fully integrated within each earpiece, so there is no need for any external processing module and come with a 1.6 m detachable cable; a specialized airline adapter for connecting to in-flight entertainment systems, and a carrying case with attached accessory pouch.

At IFA visitors will be able to experience for themselves the effectiveness of the ANC7 noise cancelling technology by evaluating the headphones in an environment of aircraft background noise.  The Audio-Technica stand can be found in Hall 1.2, The Home Entertainment Hall, Stand No: 111 at IFA, at Messe Berlin, 31 August to 5 September 2007.
