Free iMedia Control for iPad from Sitecom has the distinction of being the first ever app for an Apple mobile device to receive Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certification.
Rotterdam (the Netherlands), January 2012 - Sitecom introduces the world's first DLNA Certified® App for iPad: iMedia Control for iPad. The App allows users better and quicker access to their digital media library on the network and makes it possible to play the media content on the TV via a media player or on the mobile device directly. As DLNA® is an international organization advocating the interoperability of networked consumer products, the strict Certification guidelines translate into convenient and intuitive use for the end user. This is the first time the guidelines for interoperability set by the DLNA have been met by an app for Apple mobile devices.
DLNA has Certified the iMedia Control for iPad as a Mobile Digital Media Controller, an acknowledgement to the extensive connectivity and comprehensive control capabilities of media content such as music, photos and videos. The iMedia Control for iPad has passed demanding tests to receive DLNA Certification, a symbol of its leading position as a Mobile Digital Media Controller.

Accessing the media library
With the iMedia Control for iPad accessing content from the home network becomes easy and intuitive. Once installed, the app automatically finds DLNA Certified® Digital Media Servers (DMS) such as network attached storage (NAS) devices in the home network, without any extra configuration necessary. The Sitecom MD-254 Home Storage Center is an example of such a DLNA Certified® NAS. Moreover, the iMedia Control for iPad can also access content from Windows Computers that are connected to the home network and run Windows Media Player with media sharing enabled.
Playing media content
The iMedia Control for iPad allows the user to choose where they want their media content such as music, videos and photos to be played. To play on a TV, the Media Control App automatically finds DLNA Certified® Digital Media Renderers (DMR), such as media players, in the home network. The Sitecom MD-272 HDD TV Media Player and the MD-273 Network TV Media Player are both DLNA Certified® and designed to run with the iMedia Control for iPad. In addition, media content can also be played directly on the iPad itself if the file formats are supported by the device.
Ease of use
The iMedia Control for iPad lets users control all connected devices in the home network simultaneously which means that multiple media files can be played on different players at the same time. The iMedia Control for iPad also supports multitasking that lets users enjoy other apps on their mobile device while they play music or movies via the iMedia Control for iPad. Moreover, the app also has a search function which makes it easy to find a song or movie in the vastness of your media library.
The free iMedia Control for iPad is available now and can be downloaded from the App Store. The App is also available as aMedia Control for Android smartphones and tablets or iMedia Control for iPhone and iPod touch.
