Audio-Technica, the leading Japanese manufacturer of high-performance microphones, headphones, wireless systems, mixers and electronic products for the home and professionals is to take noise-cancelling headphones to the next level with its latest offering, announced this week at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2008 in Las Vegas.

The new ATH-ANC3 QuietPoint™ active noise-cancelling headphones will be available in the UK from April and bring unique technology to miniature in-ear phones with a truly exceptional 85% noise cancellation together with outstanding sound quality, comfort and portability.

The ATH-ANC3 uses patented technology that detects external environmental noise through miniature microphones which are incorporated into each ear bud, and then creates an equal but opposite noise signal which is added to the music signal and so cancels out the external noise. To perform the outstanding achievement of blocking out 85% of the outside noise, the ATH-ANC3 extends the active noise cancellation over a wide frequency range, unlike most similar in-ear headphones that actively cancel only the lower frequencies.

These ATH-ANC3 in-ear headphones are simply perfect for use on airplanes and trains, or whilst exercising or, indeed, anywhere that users want to listen to music — just the music alone. Offering total comfort and convenience, the ATH-ANC3 comes with three sizes of ear tips (small, medium and large) to give a totally customised fit in the ear canal.  With the snug fit sealing out much of the external noise the addition of the QuietPoint™ active noise-cancelling technology brings an almost silent background enhancing the listening pleasure as never before.

The ATH-ANC3 includes a compact control unit with a monitor switch that mutes all functions, to let users hear important outside announcements and conversations. These headphones also operate normally in a passive mode when the noise-cancelling function is off so they can be used without batteries. Equally they can be used in the noise-cancelling-only mode without music when resting etc. in a noisy environment.

As with all Audio-Technica products, the ATH-ANC3 is designed to deliver a clear, high-resolution sound, with an exceptional bass response; clear and open midrange detail; clean high-frequency extension and outstanding stereo imaging.

The ATH-ANC3 is supplied in a hard, durable carrying case, with an adjustable cable and an additional extension cable; a clothing clip; an AAA battery and with an airline adapter which can connect to in-flight entertainment systems.  Available in a colour choice of black or white, the ATH-ANC3 is the latest addition to the Audio-Technica headphone range, which includes the award-winning ATH-ANC7 active noise-cancelling headphones.

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC3 active noise-cancelling in-ear headphones will be available in the UK from April 2008 competitively priced with a suggested retail price of £69.95.
