Neuros Technology (www.neurostechnology.com), a leading open source consumer electronics manufacturer, has today announced that Maplin, the electronics specialist, is to sell the Neuros OSD digital video organizer via the Maplin web site (www.maplin.co.uk), as well as in a number of its retail locations.

With the ability to store hundreds of hours of video on a single external hard drive, the Neuros OSD (Maplin code A71HJ) will allow users to create a single digital video library from all of their DVDs, VHS tapes, home movies and TV shows.  Mobile users can even use the device to transfer their video content onto their portable devices (such as laptops, video iPods, iPhones, and Smartphones), in order to enjoy their videos on-the-go.

"By using the very latest digital recording technology, the Neuros OSD allows users to archive all of their DVD and other video content quickly and easily," said Collin Anderson, President, Neuros Technology.  "All of your films and home movies can now be safely and legally transferred into a single digital library that can be organised and accessed easily."

Customers who purchase the Neuros OSD simply need to connect the device to their TV and to a DVD player, VCR, satellite box, or other video source with the included cables, and plug in their desired storage medium (typically a USB external hard drive, but memory cards or networked PCs or attached storage offer additional options).  Once connected, users simply need to press 'play' to record their favourite video - safely and legally - into  a standard, compressed format (MP4) that can be played anywhere.

The Neuros OSD also has a number of exciting bonus features, including: the ability to do timed recordings of live TV; a YouTube browser to easily access and play the entire YouTube video library on a TV; an audio player to enjoy digitally stored music on a stereo; and a photo viewer to watch digital slide shows on a TV.  All of these features are also controllable with the OSD universal remote, which is included as standard.

"This exciting new product will make bulky cases and damaged DVDs a thing of the past," says Jonpaul Warren, Product Manager, Maplin Electronics.  "Film lovers will be able to access all of their videos instantly with the push of a button, and mobile users will be able to transfer video content to portable devices like video iPods, PSPs, or mobile phones to watch during their morning commute or on their lunch break."

As a leader in consumer electronics, Maplin introduces hundreds of new and innovative products every month, and prides itself on providing unique products that are supported by excellent service.  Its customers can buy the Neuros OSD from the Maplin web site, and also 'off-the-shelf' from select stores.  For added flexibility, if the Neuros product is out of stock when a customer visits a Maplin store, Maplin will post it directly to the customer, free of charge.
