The organisers of Computex are predicting that a large proportion of exhibitors will focus upon the current hot trend of home and wearable technological gadgetry. The allocation and distribution of exhibition space for the Computex Taipei ICT show, which kicks off on 3rd June, is all but finalised and the organisers are seeing this bandwagon jumping trend among companies hoping to launch and promote their latest tech products.

There are around 1,700 exhibitors lined up to show off their wares at the event, reports the Focus Taiwan News Channel. It says that the coming show is going to focus on "smart living technologies and applications, from 3-D printers to wearable devices," according to Computex organisers.

We have seen a large number of announcements, prototypes and corporate acquisitions spurred by the idea that smart home appliances, the Internet of Things and tech wearables are going to storm forth and set the market alight. However everything launched so far in pursuit of the next big tech thing, especially the smartwatches, have only produced a spark of interest at launch time and are then duly forgotten.

So let's hope there's not too much emphasis on smart wearables and smart appliances, to the detriment of our beloved PCs. As all HEXUS fans will know we make a pilgrimage to Computex every year and it is still an incredibly important event for new PC technology and components.

As usual we expect heavyweight companies to pre-announce a number of important new tech products in the run up to the show and then see hardware partners incorporate the new tech into consumer products for show attendees to drool over. We'd guess that Intel's Devil's Canyon chips and systems will be there. Jostling over the Computex d&i awards has already begun with some exhibitors piggybacking on the CeBIT show in March to show upcoming Computex launch products.

Are HEXUS readers looking forward to any particular new products expected from the Computex show? I want to see if there are any new more affordable Windows 8 tablets and sub-9-inch 2-in-1s on show following the Microsoft reduced pricing announcements.
