One more possibility...

However, as we've already alluded, the major part of Brunswick's role was sales so we think it more likely that AMD will fill this vacuum with an existing sales exec.

One name we haven't mentioned yet is Darren Grasby, whose current job title is Director EMEA GFX and effectively heads up the GPU and chipset sales operation for AMD in EMEA.

Brunswick was a VP and headed up CPU sales for AMD in Eastern Europe. With AMD acutely aware of the growing importance of the GPU in PCs it would be a logical move to promote Grasby in this way.

Having founded and operated ATI Technologies' AIB Connect3D immediately before joining AMD, Grasby is a seasoned veteran of the PC graphics business, who not only has hands-on EMEA experience at AMD, but also a detailed and long-term understanding of the global PC technology component market as a whole, with important long-term relationships spanning some two decades.

And most importantly, two things Grasby knows how to do are: run a business and take a fight to a bigger competitor.

So this might be a good time for technology channel professionals to get to know Grasby, or if you already know him, buy him a drink, because it looks like he's about to be upwardly mobile within AMD.
