ASUS has partnered with Samsung to offer buyers some attractive cashback deals as an incentive to upgrade to the new X99 platform. Buyers can choose an ASUS X99 motherboard and Samsung 850 PRO solid-state and get up to £100 cash back. ASUS thinks this upgrade deal will be very useful for those upgrading from the Intel X79 platform (or even X58/48), as it will be part of a complete platform upgrade.

ASUS published a web page dedicated to this UK deal and the combinations of motherboards and SSDs which qualify for the cashback offer. The permutations of offers are available at many UK retailers (and e-tailers) and consist of the following:

  • An ASUS X99 motherboard: choose from the X99-A, X99-DLX or R5E (Rampage 5 Extreme)
  • A Samsung 850 PRO SSD: choose from the MZ-7KE1T0BW 1TB SSD, MZ-7KE512BW 512GB SSD or MZ-7KE256BW 256GB SSD.

You can find Scan's cashback combinations here. Depending upon your component combination choice you will earn between £40 and the headlining maximum £100 cashback. Interestingly you can also earn the cashback if you buy a new system from a qualifying partner with the appropriate components installed (complete systems not including the ASUS X99-A).

Getting your cashback isn't a very strenuous task. Whilst this offer runs, from now until 12 October 2014, you must make your purchases. Between two weeks and 45 days of your purchase date head over to the official claim form page and complete the redemption form (not yet live) with your purchase details. Within 28 days your valid cashback claim will be fulfilled. Full terms and conditions are on the promotions page.

Why can they never do something like this that's EU wide and not just for the UK ?
As a buyer from Ireland looking to purchase a complete system upgrade, stuff like this is turning me more toward buying from Germany or the Netherlands, probably save the 100 anyway purchasing from a EURO currency country given the terrible exchange rate and retailer mark-ups.
Even places like Overclockers charge the Irish VAT rate rather than the UK rate but yet still, can't avail of offers like these.
Sucks !
Not that great a deal really…..unless you are buying those exact high-end components.

It's more of a way to tempt people in, making them think they are getting a bargain.
Samsung and Asus working together that's new…

Presumably the same restriction will apply to “an independent Scotland” - if so, the thought hadn't occurred to me (too wrapped up in £/no-£, EU/no-EU, etc*)

To put it mildly. Maybe this is something that your MEP should be looking at - after all it's supposed to be a “single market” in the EU member states isn't it?

(* and yes, I'm utterly sick of politicians of either camp at the moment!)
Southern Ireland is not part of the UK. Hence why ?
You can always ask a friend in the UK and have them courier it over ?
