It's always worth having a look at Intel's price list on a Monday morning as it tends to introduce changes on Sundays.

Sure enough, the chip giant produced a new price list yesterday, which contained only two changes. These were the arrival of Intel's first dual-core Celeron processors for notebooks.

They are both 65nm parts with 1MB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB and TDP of 35W. The T1600 costs $80 from Intel and has a clock of 1.66GHz, the 1.83GHz T1700 costs $86.

For comparison, the E1400 dual-core Celeron for desktop costs $53, has a clock of 2GHz and a TDP of 65W and the Celeron 575 for notebooks costs $86, has a clock of 2GHz and a TDP of 31W.

Also today, there are reports that Intel has put a 32nm system-on-a-chip successor to Atom on its roadmap for 2010, codenamed Medfield.

The title/heading seems a bit mis-leading, and continues in the article…
These were the arrival of Intel's first dual-core Celeron processors for notebooks.

Intel has been talking about its Celeron dual-cores for some time - e.g. http://www.intel.com/design/mobile/specupdt/31973501.pdf from April 2008. They've also got them on http://www.intel.com/en_UK/Consumer/Learn/Notebook/celeron-detail.htm?iid=SEARCH (click the ‘Processor numbers’ to see), but not the two models mentioned here :S

Your local DSGi has also been selling Intel Celeron Dual Core T1400 laptops for some time…

I think a more accurate title would be “Intel launches new Celeron dual-core CPUs for notebooks”?
